Martin Douzant is a popular young horse trainer that works extensively with event and jump horses. When he is not training or competing young horses, he is routinely found at the USEA Future Event Horse (FEH) Championships as the designated jump chute horse handler. Based out of Brook Hill Farm in Middleburg, Virginia, Martin has a positive teaching style and has extensive experience with green horses and riders. This is a great opportunity to learn from one of the best in the sport! Using a jump chute is the ideal introduction to jumping for young horses, OTTB's coming off the track, or to work through issues with experienced jumpers. All you need to bring is your horse in a halter (or bridle if you prefer) and your phone/camera to get great pictures and video. Martin's approach emphasizes a clear and consistent framework for young horse development ground in the European method. Welcome to the Summer Program where we have a split venue format: Hunters will be in the Wofford arena by the main barn and jumpers will be in the Grand Prix arena by the polo barns. 🚨 Friday Ticketed Schooling & Stabling Promo 🚨: UPDATE: We now have tent barns on both sides of the property: (1) in the parking paddock for the Wofford Arena (hunters) and (2) in the overflow/gooseneck parking by the Grand Prix Arena (jumpers). Reserve Friday ticketed schooling and a weekend stall for only $195 (#4500 on Strider). See details below in Stabling Information section. Health Requirement Update All horses must provide proof of Flu/Rhino vaccination within the last 6 months to enter the grounds. ✔️ Vet receipt OR ✔️ United States Equestrian Federation vaccination form Thank you for being part of a safe and responsible show environment. Schedule Updates: Note that all poles and cross rails classes will be in the Grand Prix ring and occur after the morning session but before the afternoon jumper session. Specification Notes: Student Equitation: Consists of two (2) flat classes and one (1) over fences class. This is a different format than short stirrup and long stirrup and CANNOT be combined with either class. That means that if there is only one person in the class, we will still run the class but it will not count for points under the BHSA rules (BHSA only requires 2 riders for the class to count for points). Morning jumpers: There will no longer be optimum time classes (Table IV. 1) for morning jumpers. These will be either Table II.1, Table II(2)(b) or Table II(2)(d). Note that the USEF requires classes under .90m for child/adult amateurs to run under optimum time, but the local show will not follow this format for the jumper classes, which start at .80. Pre-Novice/Puddle Jumpers: VHSA now recognizes 2’ classes and calls them "pre-novice." BHSA calls these classes "puddle jumpers." Jumper Tables: Jumper table II2c has been replaced with table II2d. Changing classes on the day of the show incurs no change fees. DO NOT submit show-day class add/drops to the show secretary. A same day show class credit does not result in a REFUND absent special circumstances, such as a class being canceled outside of show management’s control, and then, only upon email request to the show secretary at bevshowsec@gmail.com. SCRATCHES. Entries must be scratched on Strider before the Closing Date to receive any refund. Any refunds after the Closing Date are subject to a $50 Admin Fee per entry. CREDITS. Before or after Closing Date, to receive a credit in the full amount of your entry towards a future show, you must email the show secretary at bevshowsec@gmail.com before the show starts. (Note that this credit for entries is only available for 12 months following the original show date that the entry was submitted on Strider; it is not a rolling credit that can be moved to future Beverly shows indefinitely.) Keep proof of credit in order to send it to the show secretary at the time of intended future use for credit. STRIDER allows payment by credit card, Venmo, and PayPal. Any additional class fees can be settled at the show by check, cash, Venmo, or Zelle on the show day. No credit cards are accepted at the show. NON COMPETE HORSES. Noncompeting horses register as such on our Strider platform and pay the $30 non-compete horse fee. It is important that we have a release and a coggins on file for every horse on the property. Again, we appreciate your understanding as bio security and safety is our top concern. TRAILER & CAR PARKING Hunters – Main Outdoor Arena Address: 7120 Beverly Lane Trailer and car parking for the Main Arena (hunters) is located in the parking paddock immediately upon entering the main farm entrance. Cars must park along the fence line to leave room for trailers. There is no general parking in the courtyard by the main barn. Trailer parking is located in the gravel parking lot adjacent to the Grand Prix Arena. The Show Office is located in the Polo Barns on the road leading to the Grand Prix Arena. Please follow posted signage and staff directions for unloading and parking. Do not drive or park on the rubber material immediately surrounding or in between the polo barns BACK NUMBERS & CLASS RIBBONS Self-serve back numbers and regular class ribbons are available for riders with complete online entries submitted by midnight. Open to riders 13 years and older. Judged on equitation. Rriters may not cross enter into classes where they would jump over 18 inches. Courses may be trotted. Student Equitation (BHSA Only). Open to riders in their first or second year of showing over fences 2 feet or higher. Judged on equitation. Courses may be trotted Beverly Mini Medal — 2’0”–2’6”.Open to junior and amateur riders. To be shown over a shortened equitation course at inviting heights appropriate for developing competitors. Judged on the rider’s position, accuracy, effectiveness, and overall rideability. The course will introduce basic technical questions such as changes of direction, bending lines, and long approaches appropriate for this level. Riders may be asked to return for a flat phase or a brief work-off at the judge’s discretion. Martingales permitted over fences. Beverly Jumper Seat Medal — 2’9”–3’0”. Open to junior and amateur riders. To be shown over a jumper-style equitation course at a forward, balanced pace. Judged on the rider’s position, accuracy, effectiveness, and overall rideability. The course will include technical elements appropriate for developing jumper riders, such as bending lines, related distances, and rollback turns. Riders may be asked to return for a work-off at the judge’s discretion. Faults will be considered in the overall equitation score. May be ridden in standard jumper tack. Martingales permitted. VHSA/BHSA Children/Adult Amateur Medal. Open only to regular members of the VHSA. Over fences riders to compete over regulation equitation course at 3 feet. In each class at least the top four riders must have additional test. See VHSA Rule 15. For flat medals, must show at all working gaits with additional requirements and test. See VHSA Rule 14 and Section 7–10 of Rule 28. Hunter Class Specifications Warm Up: Not Judged. A horse/rider combination may participate in one or more warm-up class(es) at each show at management’s discretion. Warm up classes may be discontinued at any time. Riders must let the starter know upon entering the ring if the round is a warm-up. Hunter Pleasure Pony: Open to ponies ridden by Juniors. This division may only be combined with the Adult Hunter Pleasure Horse and/or the Junior Hunter Pleasure Horse. Adult Hunter Pleasure Horse: Open to horses ridden by Adult Amateurs or Professionals. Horses may cross enter into another Pleasure Division at the same show. Junior Hunter Pleasure Horse: Open to horses ridden by Juniors. Short Stirrup Hunter. Open to riders 12 years and under. Riders may not cross enter into any VHSA division except pleasure and act on the flat. No Rider may ride more than two mounts. Rider 18 fence is 18 inches. Courses may be trotted. VHSA only. Low Hunter: Open to horses and ponies. No restrictions on riders. This division may be combined with Limit Hunter. Limit Rider Hunter: Open to horses/ponies ridden by Juniors/Adult Amateurs. VADA Fredericksburg is pleased to welcome George Williams for a dressage clinic on Saturday, June 27, 2026 All levels of riders are welcome. George Williams has built a distinguished career around dressage as a rider, coach, clinician and volunteer. His dressage education began in Germany with Egon von Neindorff and continued with his mentor, Karl Mikolka at the Tempel Lipizzans where he rode and trained for 20 years, serving as program director for 13 years. He emerged as a competitor with the U.S. Equestrian Team, riding the Westphalian mare Rocher to success, including team bronze at CHIO Aachen in 2005, a USDF Grand Prix, fifth place at the 2003 World Cup in Sweden, and Grand Prix Freestyle Horse of the Year in 2003. Since retiring from competition, George has trained many young riders all the way to prestigious finals and has served on the boards of the U.S. Equestrian Dressage Committee, the US Equestrian Board of Directors, and the United States Dressage Federation, where he served as president for nine years. Now, George travels to teach clinics and is the US Equestrian Dressage Youth Coach and on the FEI Dressage Committee.

Come join us at Copeland Farms for a Ride A Test. Pick your test (USDF/FEI/USEA/Western Dressage) by specifying which test you want to ride - if a test is not listed that you want to ride, please list which test you would like to ride in the notes section of your entry. Time slots are 30m in which you warm up as if you are at a show prior to your ride time and then ride your test at your ride time in front of USEF S Judge, Freestyle & Western Dressage R Judge, Jodi Ely. She will score your test and then go over it with you. You can choose to either repeat the test or pick a section to work on with Jodi for the remainder of your 30m time block. If you want to book a longer slot you can book 2 slots for a total of an hour, or can book a second test to ride at a later time. If you do not want to ride a test - you can sign up for a lesson and work on whatever you would like! Junior Event Camp at Hitching Post Farm is for kids aged 8-18, with their own horses, who are either actively eventing or ready to begin eventing. Campers have the option to camp at our farm, under the guidance of knowledgeable and caring counselors. HPF’s Junior Event Camp is designed to fully prepare each student to compete in the July schooling trial on the Saturday following camp. Campers will take part in 2 lessons per day in groups of no more than 5 riders. Although the Junior Event Camp has grown, there is still flexibility to work in groups as small as 2 or individually, if the need arises. We take pride in our ability to make each camper feel confident, prepared and challenged while maintaining a fun and friendly environment. Laurie Hudson, Taylor Faccio and Sally Scheindel teach cross-country, show jumping and dressage respectively and are accompanied by other instructors, including Lauren Mair, Janine McClain and surprise guests! Each day campers are expected to take care of all aspects of their horses, as well as help and encourage other campers. We have counselors on the premises to help ensure that campers are happy and comfortable. New this year: Please provide a letter of recommendation from your instructor letting us know about you, your horse and any information that will help us to help you. Welcome to the Summer Program where we have a split venue format: Hunters will be in the main ring by the main barn and jumpers will be in the Grand Prix arena by the polo barns. Friday Ticketed Schooling & Stabling Promo: We have 8 stalls in our shed row barn in between the two facilities. These are available on a first come first serve basis. Once these are taken, additional stalls are only available in our polo barns (by the Grand Prix arena) that have stall guards, not stall doors. 🚨 Health Requirement Update 🚨 Our show is ON as scheduled. After consultation with veterinarians, this plan is safe provided that: All horses must provide proof of Flu/Rhino vaccination within the last 6 months to enter the grounds. ✔️ Vet receipt OR ✔️ United States Equestrian Federation vaccination form Thank you for being part of a safe and responsible show environment. Also New for Summer 2026: -You asked and we answered: there are now two (2) cross rail classes for the jumpers. Both will be optimum time classes but #52 will be cross rails only and #53 will have some low verticals. -We still have two poles classes: #50 is a short poles course and #51 is a longer course but still poles. -Note that all poles and cross rails classes will be in the Grand Prix ring and occur after the morning session but before the afternoon jumper session. -Student Equitation consists of two (2) flat classes and one (1) over fences class. This is a different format than short stirrup and long stirrup and CANNOT be combined with either class. That means that if there is only one person in the class, we will still run the class but it will not count for points under the BHSA rules (BHSA only requires 2 riders for the class to count for points). -There will no longer be optimum time classes (Table IV. 1) for morning jumpers. These will be either Table II.1, Table II(2)(b) or Table II(2)(d). Note that the USEF requires classes under .90m for child/adult amateurs to run under optimum time, but the local show will not follow this format for the jumper classes, which start at .80. Other Updates: -VHSA now recognizes 2’ classes and calls them "pre-novice." Ticketed schooling will be available on Thursday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM for both competing and non-competing horses. This is a great opportunity for riders to gain confidence ahead of the weekend competition—get in the ring, familiarize yourself with the venue, and enjoy the show atmosphere, whether you’re preparing to compete or simply looking for quality schooling time on the grounds. Check in at the office is required prior to entering the arena. Back numbers are required at all times while schooling. Completed entries must be submitted through STRIDER by 5:00 PM on 8/5 (including rider waiver, coggins, and horse vaccine record), or an incomplete paperwork fee will apply. Schooling is limited to 4 horses per time slot to prevent arena crowding. Courses will remain set as is—there are no height reservations, so please be courteous of the shared space. Plan to bring a ground person if you need to make any adjustments. Be sure to select the correct arena and time slot when booking, as space is limited for each, and only school at your assigned arena and time. And ANY Dressage-Only test you would like to ride is available. Just be sure to make note to organizer of what you are seeking. This is a low-key show for all competitors to gain mileage in the ring. It is a great opportunity for first time pairs to get a feel for the show-scene OR to take try at moving up a level. The Windchase XC Derby is back! Come join us on Saturday August 22 (The rain-date is Sunday August 23.) Fun and informal, and a good school for you and your horse. Ride individually or as pairs. There are Prizes! Excellent food will be available on grounds by C&C Grill. The Windchase Cross-Country Derby course will run over our 100-acre-plus XC courses, going from field to field. Courses will be approximately 1.75 miles long. Participants may ride individually or in pairs. Footing permitting, the course will include water, banks and ditches, as well as some foxhunting type obstacles. All courses designed to be confidence building and inviting, and you have the option of jumping fences a level lower or higher than your entered division. The Intro/Elem division will have small trot-over log options for all obstacles. This is a unique chance to ride over the beautiful rolling hills of western Loudoun County, at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains, while competing in a fun and informal atmosphere. What is unique about our XC course is that we have so much space; the course will be run from field to field, and be approximately 1.75 miles long. For those who don’t want to walk that far, we will take people around the course by vehicle the afternoon before and in the morning before the derby starts. We will have divisions for Pairs, where two riders go out together (and hopefully come back together too!), as well as the regular individual classes. Divisions: Intro: Fences approximately 2 feet. Easy log-type options for all jumps. Speed 270 meters/minute. Starter/Elementary: Fences not to exceed 2’3, inviting and straightforward. Speed 300 meters/minute. Beginner Novice: Blue numbers. Fences not to exceed 2’7. Speed 325 meters/minute. Novice: Brown numbers. Fences not to exceed 2’11. Speed 375 meters/minute. Training/Modified: Black numbers. Mostly Training, with a few options. Fences to 3’4. Speed 425 mm. PAIRS – At each level. Two horse/rider combinations go out together. Pairs may be mixed levels - choose your jump heights, choose your optimum time target. Classes judged on jumping penalties and closest to Optimum Time. In all divisions, you may choose to jump a lower or higher option at any fence. If you skip a fence altogether that is OK too, but a small time penalty will be added to your time. Lead horses will be available for the Intro/Elem and BN divisions. Entries are $100 for pre-entries, or $120 for late or post entries. Second rounds can be added, either in advance or on the day, for $45. Payment for pre-entries must be received by the Wednesday before the Derby. (A $20 office fee is due if you cancel after the closing date.)
