Wendy Murdoch Sure Foot Pads Workshop
Sure Foot Pad Workshop with Wendy Murdoch at Encore Stables October 21. This post is for auditors - auditors will learn by watching horses with riders and in-hand work with Wendy on the pads. Auditors are invited to ask questions and participate in discussion. We have a couple more openings for horses either in-hand or with a rider for $150 (call us to bring your horse).
You will learn how to use Sure Foot Pads to:
Release Tension
Improve balance
Reach your riding goals
Become more symmetrical
Be more responsive to the aids
The Foot is a sensory organ, not just part of the horse’s balance and locomotion. It helps the horse sense where he is in space (proprioception). When a horse stands on the pads there are palpable changes in the Horses demeanor such as licking and chewing, muscles twitching and releasing tension, and changes in expression. These subtleties have huge effects on the overall receptivity of the horse to your riding aids, his ability to carry himself straighter, and carry himself more balanced.
Sure Foot Pads are used by professionals such as Felicitas von Neumann-Cosel to help her horses relax, become more in tune, and improve their balance before rides.
You can participate in three ways:
Audit: $35 watching and asking questions. Wendy will include the audience while she is educating the active participants.
Horse: $150 bring your horse (only a couple spaces left) - you can ride your horse and sit on the horse on the pads or just work with your horse on the ground. If you sit on the horse while he is on the pads, you will feel what he’s feeling.
Human participant: $100. You will be in the ring up close to the Horses and actively participating in the workshop.

Attendees will learn from the experiences.how the Sure Foot Pads work, how to introduce horses to them, and how to apply them to different situations such as riding sessions, rehabilitation, and general use.
Some of the horse’s already in the program have interesting challenges such as 12 weeks out from broken pelvis and withers, asymetry, neurological problems and some are just trying to improve their balance.
