
MDHT Bred To Event Classic - Presented by Horse Sport MD


Join the Bred to Event Classic at Loch Moy Farm in Adamstown Maryland! Qualifiers on July 27, Aug 23 & Sept 12, 2025 with Championships Sept 13–14, 2025. Showcase your Event-bred horses under top judges, presented by Horse Sport Maryland.
The Bred to Event Classic is hosted by Loch Moy Farm, in combination with Maryland International Equestrian Foundation. It is a competition dedicated to the breeding of event-bred horses. With the news that the Future Event Horse program is no longer facilitated by USEA, Bred to Event Classic will further support the dedicated breeders and competitors that Loch Moy Farm has hosted at East Coast Future Event Horse Championships for 10 years.

This classic championship will be an opportunity for breeders and owners alike to showcase their decision-making and horsemanship with the young horses they show.
There will be qualifiers and championships for yearlings through 5-year-olds. Robin Walker, Chris Ryan, Susan Graham White, Sally Ike and Ian Stark are among the seasoned judges and designers of this special events championship. This is intended to be a competition dedicated to the young horse.
For the Championship in September there will be special awards for Maryland Bred horses, TB horses, and prize money will be split between Breeders/Owners, and Riders.
Winners of the yearling through 3-year-old competition will automatically be given a free entry for 2025 Bred to Event Classic. Winning horses of the 4 and 5-year-old competition will be given an annual entry for 3 years into the Maryland Horse Trials recognized events.
𝗧𝗢 𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗥
Please submit entries, paperwork, and pay via STRIDER. Your entry fee includes a professional team of handlers in the jump chute. You do not need to bring your own handler for the jump chute. Yearlings and two year old will not receive a handler as they do not compete in the jump chute

Everyone handling the horse on the ground must sign a Maryland Horse Trials release
You must upload the Horse's negative and CURRENT coggins on STRIDER.
Please specify the horse's breed on the STRIDER entry form, and attach breed paperwork. Alternatively you can email the paperwork to mdhorsetrials@gmail.com before the closing date.
All documents must be received by the closing date. A $25 processing fee will be charged for paperwork submitted after the closing date.

*** NOTIFICATION - Due to the time constraints of required performances, we are limited to 15 entrants in each division. A waitlist will be open for all classes. If certain divisions are not filled, there may be potential to take more horses in other divisions.

Horses will be judged in hand for their conformation and walk. Then turned loosed in the jump chute to judge the trot and canter. Must score at least a 7.5 in conformation to be eligible for the Championships.
𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝟰𝗔. 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗢𝗹𝗱 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗔-- (for 4 year old horses that are not ready to do XC jumps. Their Championship day jumping will be free schooled in the jump chute).
Horses will be shown under saddle in small groups for basic gaits. At the end of the class they will remove the tack and be judged for conformation. Must score at least a 7.5 in conformation to be eligible for the Championships.
𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝟰𝗕. 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗢𝗹𝗱 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗕—(for those 4 year old's who have more experience in jumping under saddle)
Horses will be judged ridden in small groups Under Saddle to show basic gaits. After that they will jump a short Derby course. Conformation will be judged at the conclusion of the flat class. Must score at least a 7.5 in conformation to be eligible for the Championships.

Refunds: Scratch through the final close date with a refund less $25 office/scratch fee/processing fees. AFTER THE FINAL CLOSING DATE, NO REFUNDS OR CREDITS WILL BE ISSUED – NO EXCEPTIONS.
Wait List: If there is a wait list, a refund or credit less the $25 office/scratch fee will be issued to any scratch whose spot can be filled off the wait list. Entries may not be transferred or sold to others if there is a wait list.
Show cancellation: If for any reason the show is cancelled, there is no refund. Credits may be issued as circumstances allow.
