Working Equitation (WE) is currently the fastest growing equine sport within the US. It is a 4 phase competition that started in Europe in the mid 1990s that is based on how the Portuguese and Spanish Cowboys work cattle and do field work. WE allows any breed or discipline to compete, including gaited horses and mules. While traditionally Iberian breeds excell in the sport, any breed can be successful and enjoy competing. To learn more about WE please visit www.usawe.org

Meghan Truppner, of Karmic Run, is a lifelong dressage enthusiast earning her USDF Bronze and Silver medals on various self trained horses. She often found herself riding/training "non traditional horses" for the sport and through them developed her passion for biomechanics. Biomechanics is a fundamental cornerstone of any riding discipline; knowing the facts of how/why a horse moves and how/why you move with them helps develop timing, feel, sharpening of riding aids along with a true sense of following the horse without interference. Meghan's style of teaching and training involves curious discussions with the rider about WHY we are asked to perform an exercise, how we can apply riding knowledge to your individual body and how to truly be fluent in body language for that is the only language the horse speaks. Working Equitation has opened the door for another incredible opportunity to further test the skills of the foundation Meghan has created. Combining the two respected sports has greatly improved each individually and has created an even deeper partnership with the horse.

There will be 3 groups of 4 riders offered. Each session will give an introduction to several obstacles to include rules and basic how to complete the obstacles. You will also be given time to practice each obstacle with guidance from the clinician. If time allows, a mock course will be given for you to practice putting all the obstacles together in a sequence. There will also be discussion of dressage and how it differs from USDF dressage.

Full payment will secure your spot. If you do not pay in full by the closing date, you will lose your spot and it it will go to the next person on the waiting list. No refunds will be given except in extreme cases and at the discretion of the clinician. If we have to cancel due to weather, the clinic will be postponed to a later date. If you wish to ride at a specific time or with specific people, please let me know when you sign up and I will try my best to accommodate, but cannot guarantee your preferred time.

Auditing is FREE. No lunch provided this time.
