New Zealand Olympian and Badminton Winner heads to sunny California for a two day clinic June 17th & 18th!

Jock Paget began his eventing career as a working pupil with Kevin McNab in Queensland, someone Jock now refers to as ‘one of the best horseman I’ve ever come across’. Just two years after beginning his competitive eventing career, Jock placed fourth at the Melbourne Three Day Event in the CIC***.

Jock was then offered a job by Frances Stead as the principle rider for Clifton Eventers in New Zealand. Jock was introduced to up and coming One Star Horse Clifton Promise in 2007. In the first year of their partnership, Jock and ‘Promise’ won their first CCI**, placed third in their first CIC***, and won their first CCI***. Promise was named Horse of the Year in New Zealand in 2009 and 2010.

Jock and Clifton Promise have earned top places at the world’s most prestigious events in the world, including Rolex Kentucky, World Equestrian Games, the London 2012 Olympics, Pau, and more.

Tutelage from the number one rider in the world, Michael Jung, helped Jock and Promise win The Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials. Jock is one of only two riders to win the title on their first attempt. Paget Eventing went on to win the British Open Champion with Clifton Lush and the Landrover Burghley Horse Trials with Clifton Promise.

In 2015, Jock Paget was named to New Zealand’s Eventing High Performance Squad with both Clifton Lush and Clifton Promise.

Earlier this year, Jock took up the new role of High Performance Development Coach in February for Equestrian Sports New Zealand (ESNZ). He will continue competing at the upper levels with new star Angus Blue.

The cost for Jock’s upcoming California clinic will be $375 and stabling at Bald Hill Stables is available for $35 a day. Riders will also be able to sign up for an opportunity to canter on the virtually deserted Ten Mile Beach at MacKerricher state park.

Organizer Notes

Dogs will not be allowed. Ricochet is located right on Hwy 1 and it poses a serious risk for both dogs and horses to have loose dogs in the yard.

Riders will be required to handle their own accommodations. There are many hotels, inns and B&B’s in Fort Bragg as well as camping across the street from Ricochet Ranch in MacKerricher State Park.

Changes are permitted at the discretion of the organizer, Sue Funkey.
