Pressure Proof Clinic to Benefit After the Races (ATR)

Get ready to swing a leg over your horse and participate in mind-bending mounted challenges and games designed to help riders discover their confidence and learn to overcome fears, failures, and frustrations. If you have been thinking that you needed a clinic to improve your equestrian-brain as much as your hips, heels, hands, and hand-gallop, this clinic is what you’ve been searching for. The goal of a Pressure Proof clinic is to improve our riding minds through oddly fun and creative mounted challenges designed to illuminate to us how our brain works once we experience stress and pressure. By the end of the clinic, we should be better equipped on how to successfully overcome these mounted stressors.
This clinic is open to all disciplines, breeds, and a variety of rider abilities. Riders should ideally feel comfortable at a walk, trot, and canter, however the clinic can be completed at a walk and trot. Riders should be comfortable steering and riding in a group. The clinic lends itself best to more made or finished horses, but green horses can do quite well with experienced riders or over poles or cross rails. The goal of the clinic is to challenge the riders mind while creating a super fun, physically easy, positive day out for our equine partners. Riders are encouraged to choose an obstacle height they are comfortable schooling with their mount.
The clinic will be held at After the Races in Elkton, Maryland on Saturday, June 15th and Sunday, June 16th. The clinic will be held rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, there will be a rain date of June 22nd and 23rd. We have updated the clinic format to better suit the needs of the riders and horses participating. There will be three groups of four riders with at least an hour gap in between groups to help facilitate shipping in and out of ATR and the best possible horse care. Riders and auditors are welcomed and encouraged to stay for the day, watch other groups ride, encourage others to do their best, and ask amazing questions. With the clinic format change, riders and auditors can also elect to come only for their ride time or a single ride time and will still learn all of the most important information.
The daily schedule will begin promptly at 9 AM with riders participating over poles. This group will finish at 11 AM. There will be an hour and half break for lunch with a short sports psychology seminar at 11:45 AM, for those who wish to attend, during the lunch break. The cross rails group will run from 12:30 to 2:30 PM and the slightly larger fences group will run from 3:30 to 5:30 PM. Fences will not exceed 2’6” in height.
Each participating group will receive a brief overview of the clinic, goals, and instructions. Riders will all receive a warm up, several rounds over obstacles, followed by an exit briefing to help us understand what we learned even better. Rider fees are $130.00/day and auditor fees are $30.00/day. Riders and auditors may participate in both days or a single day. While the content of each day will be related, the clinic will still make sense and be super fun in a single day format. The choice is yours, come for a single day or two days! We cannot wait to coach you!
This is a clinic where auditors can learn just as much as participants and auditors will be participants in the clinic despite not being mounted. Pressure Proof clinics are super fun for everyone! Just bring a chair, a drink, and maybe a blanket depending on the weather and get ready to enjoy an interesting and refreshing new look at how we ride!
